& Speech Center Announces New Medical Director

New York, December 13, 2011 – The Lexington Hearing & Speech
Center, an affiliate of the Lexington School
for the Deaf in
Jackson
Heights,
Queens, today
announced that Michael
Ditkoff, MD has been named its new Medical Director, effective December 1,
2011.
Lexington Hearing &
Speech Center, a New York State Department of Health (DOH) Article 28
Diagnostic and Treatment facility, is part of the largest organization serving
the deaf and hard of hearing community in
New York
State.
An estimated 28 million Americans, including nearly one
in five teenagers, have a hearing loss that can be treated.
As
Medical Director, Dr. Ditkoff oversees a complete range of hearing testing and
audiology services for infants, children, adults and seniors, and is
responsible for New York City’s largest and most technically advanced hearing
testing suite, designed to accommodate those requiring physical assistance or
other special consideration. In addition to his supervisory responsibilities,
Dr. Ditkoff will also maintain hands-on involvement with patients and see and
treat patients on a continuing basis.
Dr.
Ditkoff is a Board Certified Otolaryngologist and Fellow of the
American
College of Surgeons, and treats medical and
surgical diseases of the ears, nose and throat in children and adults at his
private practice in Manhasset. He has surgical privileges at North Shore University
Hospital at Manhasset and at St. Francis Hospital
in Roslyn.
Dr.
Ditkoff received his specialty training in otolaryngology at
Tufts-New
England
Medical
Center
in
Boston, Harvard University Boston Children’s
Hospital,
Tufts
University
Pediatric
Floating
Hospital
and Brown University Hasbro Children’s Hospital. He co-founded Progressive Ear,
Nose & Throat Associates in Manhasset in 2008.
At
Lexington, Dr.
Ditkoff works alongside the Center’s Executive Director and has numerous responsibilities
in addition to clinical care for patients. These include establishing and
maintaining standards of medical care; establishing community, education, and
social service partnerships; leading clinical conferences and sharing medical
expertise to maintain
Lexington’s
leadership position as an audiology center of excellence.
